Lorinda’s Salon Spa Store lives on the cutting edge, consistently
participating in training and advanced education to learn the newest
trends, techniques, and product technologies.May 23rd, 2011—the salon team drives to work on their day off, excited and ready to dive into Bumble & Bumble product knowledge. Led by Bumble & Bumble Network Educator and Lorinda’s very own designer stylist, Kelsey, this class provided a creative team with knowledge they could mold into their own style.
Using her leadership and excitement, Kelsey began by leading the team through a haircut project—a project breaking the rules of traditional haircutting and bringing the team together to create one cohesive, trend-setting haircut.
A mannequin with long hair was the model. Each stylist chose their cutting tool of choice. Stylists had everything from a razor to texture shears in hand. Then, the team went in turns taking a section of the mannequin’s hair and cutting it however they liked.
The end result: “Disconnected Craze.”
It began with Kelsey taking vertical partings, over-directing it just past the corner of the eye with her razor. Next up was 25-year Lorinda’s veteran, Sandy. With her texture shears, Sandy cut a short to long side-bang, over-directed up and over the head, parted in front of the ear. Tiffany, a 15-year veteran, created a rooster tail by using her razor to cut a spiked V-section in the crown. LeeAnn, the salon manager, over-directed the mannequin’s hair straight up with her razor. Rachael, Lorinda’s Sebastian Advocate, over-directed the front side forward with her razor and created texture. Kayte squared off the perimeter on the left side with her shears. Stephanie did a slide-cut to create a V-shaped tail on the right side. The owner, Lorinda, added layering to the top with her texture shears.
The team styled the model using Bumble & Bumble products and the knowledge gained from Kelsey’s product knowledge class.
And of course, the model loves her new cutting-edge style!
